#DOES AKAI MINIPLAY RECOGNIZE WAV FILE INSTALL#
Just install a normal stock Ubuntu LTS, download and install Reaper, connect up a (class compliant) USB interface and your good to go (at least as good, if not better than any other OS). These constant barriers are having a notable impact on my mental health. I love making music and am not bad at it. I'm surrounded by this stuff but am spending all of my time trying to get things to work instead of making music. My OS SSD has this Mint installation, an install of Fedora Jam which always fails logins (literally always - this is the third time I've installed it and I've not got past the log-in screen on any of them) and Ubuntu Studio, which I'm now trying. It's getting on for three days since I've actually been able to make any music on my computer. To make sure that their wisdom didn't pass unnoticed they connected Reaper's outputs to the Built In Analogue Stereo inputs, creating a memorable feedback cacophony in my headphones.īy 'memorable' I do, of course, mean painful. They decided that what I really wanted was the Built In Analogue Stereo to be sent to Reaper's first two inputs. This info isn't really necessary but might help give an idea of what I'm trying to achieve.Īfter spending the best part of an hour connecting the UMC1820 and F8 to Reaper, working out which of the surround-sound names related to which channel, relabelling them accordingly in Reaper and qpwgraph and adding a track for each input in Reaper I decided to have some CryBaby wakka-chikka fun with the Telecaster over some basic, very 80s, drum machine beatiness.Įither Reaper or qpwgraph intuited that I didn't really want the Drumbrute and RD-6 mixed outputs to go to Reaper's inputs one and two. edit the 'Capture' outputs down to the ones I'm using, ditching the 'Aux' outputs on the UMC1820 & FLOW8?.the UMC1820 & FLOW8 monitor outputs (the FLOW8's are hidden underneath the UMC1820's in the piccie) and the ALSA MIDI stuff hide/disable the bits I don't need, i.e.I'm giving Pipewire another go, have made the physical connections, opened Reaper and have this 'ere map in gpwgraph: I've a fresh, clean, unsullied and increasingly impatient installation of Mint which is very strongly intimating that I should hook things up and make some noise.
